The Oakwood community has truly positive and happy vibes, and I’m so grateful that I get to work here every day! My favorite part of teaching is reading and exploring books with my students! I love connecting with my students personally and helping them become invested in their education. I believe while academics are an important portion of attending school, social-emotional learning, connection, and empathy are just as important – now more than ever.

If we can connect as fellow human beings, responsibility and compassion naturally follow. Building those relationships with students and watching them grow is the most rewarding thing for me! Besides teaching, I do henna art and love to dance! I perform dances at Indian cultural programs and henna at many art markets and events. I enjoy sharing my dances, henna art, yoga, and culture with students! I’m truly grateful to be a teacher at Oakwood!

SEL Classes

Mrs. Lovett

Hello!  My name is Eli Lovett (Eli is short for Elizabeth). This is my fourth year at Oakwood but 17th year teaching students with social emotional needs! I have worked with students from kindergarten to eighth grade, but my passion is working with little kids!  This year I am working in the SEL unit with grades K-3.  It is so much fun to teach them and watch them learn, play, and create together!

I was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland but moved out West to climb and play in the mountains as much as I could.  I have been in Salt Lake for 20 plus years.  I didn't think I would stay beyond getting my degree but now I'm hooked and can't imagine living anywhere else.

My husband, Eddie, and I have been married for 17 years and have two kids, Everett (13) and Juniper (10) who keep us on our toes and laughing as much as we can.  If I'm not in the classroom during the winter you can find me on the ski slopes with my friends and family and in the summer, trail running in the mountains with my pup, Clemintine.  My family was lucky enough to move up to Big Cottonwood Canyon nine years ago and, as Ted Lasso would say, I feel like we fell out of the lucky tree, hit every branch on the way down and landed in a pile of cash and sour patch kids.
